I have a texture with an alpha channel but when I render it the shadow is solid, how do I fix this?

A very easy way to fix the shadow problem is to run your material into a Layered Shader. Then assign the layered shader to your plane, and that should fix the problem.

Also, you need to make sure you are using Raytraced shadows.
